Josh Hart is in the Knicks’ new rotation and he’s doing well. Miles McBride is not in the rotation anymore, and that’s why he’s feeling sad.
The team announced yesterday that the former second-round pick has been assigned to Westchester. Westchester starts playing today at 11:00 a.m., so the expectation is that McBride will play in that game. Then, he will come back to the Knicks.
McBride, a defender who hasn’t been very good from the field this season, is averaging 3.3 points per game and shooting 33.5 percent.
McBride was in the game for one possession against the Celtics on Monday night and played a few minutes of garbage time in a blowout win over the Pelicans on Saturday. He was then DNPs in the previous four games, but the new nine-man rotation that includes Julius Randle, Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett, Quentin Grimes, and Mitchell Robinson has been established. Hart, Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin, and Isaiah Hartenstein are now the players coming off the bench.
New York is playing the rival Nets on Wednesday night, and it is assumed that McBride will be back for that game. However, it is likely that he will only see limited playing time, if any at all.
